Plan for both webpages

Plan for both of my web pages

In this document, I will outline both of my pages, including the home, exclusive content and support pages. I will detail the colours, choice of images, fonts, hyperlinks and position of elements I want to use and why I want to use them.

Menu bar

  • Will feature four pages these being; Home, exclusive content, support and contact. Each one will be a red colour to fit with the house style then once clicked will have  a red background with a white text, each will be linked to their corresponding pages using hyperlinks.
  • I will have a social media bar featuring the platforms, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram all of which will be white in colour and will have hyperlinks in order for the user to navigate my website. The background colour for the menu bar will be black to fit with the theme of the page.
  • Underneath the menu bar I will add another box, this time, grey with the text 'outcast magazine-bringing you up-to-date current affairs news' in the font Raleway semi-bold to fit with the house style I will implement.

  • Underneath this, I will display my logo centered, with images of both previously created front covers either side of the logo in order to create a symmetrical effect, that is pleasing to the gaze of my target audience. Underneath this, on a black background will be the selling line specific for my website 'A magazine devoted to bringing unbiased groundbreaking current affairs news'. With a button underneath that will take the user straight to the issues page where they can buy a downloadable copy, However, this is not the focus of the website.

Home page

  • My Main title will be the largest font in the entirety of both web pages in order to stand out and appeal to my target demographic. I will choose a red coloured font to establish clear links between my magazine and web pages. I will use the font Raleway Semi-bold as it is a large but clear font that immediately sticks out to the user. I will place this text above a black box with my logo to the right of this separating the white and black background to create a sense of unity, establishing a professional welcoming home page for the user.
  • I will have an 'Our story' section beneath this that will fade in once the user scrolls down. I will use Black fonts so the title above sticks out more against a white background. The font will also be Georgia to reinforce the above title's importance and not to distract the reader from the main title. I will also have an image of one of my model to the right of this text, with them looking at the text to imply that they are reading the text, so the user should too. On this section, I will also have a hyperlink which will allow the user to navigate to the support page.
  • Further below this will feature the two magazine front covers to further create a strong visual link between my web pages and my magazine front covers. I will use red colour boxes with red text for the prices in order to further solidify this link.
  • Beneath this, I will include a 'This weeks top stories' sections which will include at least 4 original images, different to the ones I used on my magazine covers. The main title font with be again Raleway semi-bold to fit with the house style with the cover story titles having a white font against a red background, to help the text stand out for the user. Below the cover lines of each image, which will also have the font Raleway Semi-bold, I will put smaller text to act as the author with the 'by' being a light grey and the name being red in colour in order to fit with the colour scheme
  • Below, that I will create a 'this month's top stories' section in which I will add four original images with a red title font colour and red sub-headings in order to fit with the house style, I will separate each story using black lines so the red text stands out and the main paragraph font to the right of the images will be Avenir to further look consistent across the whole page
  • At the bottom of the page, I will create a 'Contact Us' section which will be on all three pages and be accessible via the menu bar at the top of each page. I will use a template on WIX.com and change the colour, font and sizing of the elements. I will also add an address, email address and telephone number for users to give us feedback if they want.
  • At the bottom of each section, I will feature a link to a social media platform, these primarily being Instagram, Twitter and Facebook with a line of text linking to the platform. This will increase the interactivity the user will have whilst on the website.
Exclusive Content
  • As I have used contrasting fonts on my magazine, in order to create further links I will also use contrasting fonts on my web pages. All of the headings will be used with the font LULO Clean with black colour in order for it to stand out against the white background and fit with the black and white logo I have created
  • Beneath the main title 'Go Beyond The Photos', I will create a slideshow featuring audio-visual content including videos of behind the scenes content and interviews with models. These slides will move automatically so the user doesn't have to do anything, further increasing the ease-of-use, something the target demographic is very keen to see.
  • Beneath this, I will create a section about Dennis Publishing using the same font and colour with a red line beneath just like the title at the top of this page. For the paragraphs, I will again, use the font Avenir to be further consistent across both pages. \
  • To the right of this, I will create a hover box that displays an image of a model, then once hovered will show the social media links, which I will create hyperlinks to the relevant social media platforms based on the image.
  • Beneath this, I will then add a 'meet the models' section in which I will use two different images of my front cover models, but, they will be in the same location to create further links with the web pages and the magazine covers. I will use the font Raleway Semi-bold for the main title with a red coloured font in order to be consistent and will have a black line separating the two models. This line will be the same size and colour as the one I plan to create on my home page to tie in with one another. The font for the paragraph will, again, be Avenir to fit with the house style and to look neat for my user.
  • At the very bottom, in order to appeal to my target demographic, I will include more AV elements including an introduction trailer to a podcast with one of the models as well as a clip from the end of the podcast which will include tips from the model in how to inspire and motivate my demographic.
